Barry (HBO Max, Season 3)

Barry follows Cleveland-based hitman Barry Berkman, a former U.S. Marine and Afghanistan veteran. He flies to Los Angeles to assassinate a target because he is lonely and unhappy with his existence. However, when he enrols in a class with other aspiring actors, he discovers a new sense of purpose.
The show’s darker tendencies have become more prominent in Season 3, and it has stopped depending on Barry to serve as its emotional focus. Barry is now a stronger program—and more engaging—than it would have been if it had stayed with the hitman-with-a-heart concept.
The Boys (Amazon, Season 3)

Eric Kripke created the American superhero TV show The Boys for Amazon Prime Video. It is based on the comic book of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, and it follows the titular vigilante team as they fight against those who misuse their superpowers.
Season 3 makes it very clear that the ghastly gory death-dealing scenes are accents rather than distractions. Even with PG-13-level PG gore, Kripke’s writing team still achieves outstanding character development.
Evil (Paramount+, Season 3)
In order to determine whether there is a scientific explanation or whether anything genuinely supernatural is at play, a sceptical clinical psychologist, a priest-in-training, and a blue collar contractor explore alleged aberrant happenings, including demonic possession and other strange occurrences.
Evil is still a unique creature in that it carefully considers the origins of evil, whether they are supernatural or created by humans. Evil appears to have all the elements of conventional catholic horror, yet it constantly adds a fresh viewpoint to one of the horror genre’s most worn-out themes.
The Flight Attendant (HBO Max, Season 2)
Cassie Bowden, an American flight attendant, is a careless alcoholic who binges on alcohol while flying and spends her time having sex with random people, including her customers. She finds the body of a passenger from her last flight lying next to her when she awakens in a hotel room in Bangkok the next morning, his neck slit. She cleans up the crime scene out of fear rather than calling the police before heading to the airport with the other airline staff.
The Flight Attendant season two is still so much fun, even if it may not have achieved the same ratings success as its predecessor. We learn more about Cassie, see a brand-new mystery come to light, and witness a very unusual presentation of mental illness that offers many individuals dealing with similar problems a fresh viewpoint.

#1 Top Shows of 2022: Better Call Saul (Netflix, Season 6)
The six-year period leading up to the events of Breaking Bad is shown in Better Call Saul as Jimmy McGill (Bob Odenkirk), a former con artist seeking to become a respectable attorney, develops into the character of the flamboyant criminal lawyer Saul Goodman.
Like all the preceding seasons of the programme, season six included top-notch acting performances. Leading the way were Rhea Seehorn, Bob Odenkirk, and Jonathan Banks. The first two in particular ought to win every award throughout the forthcoming season of ceremonies. They have never experienced anything like this in their professional life. Additionally, the show fulfilled its promise to bring back two significant characters from the Breaking Bad television series.
They really did give a season that was worth every penny. Better Call Saul’s sixth season is a classic in television.

Love, Death + Robots (Netflix, Season 3)
Love, Death & Robots is an adult animated anthology streaming television series produced by Tim Miller and available on Netflix. It is one of the lesser-known top shows of 2022. It is created by Blur Studio and is made up of standalone episodes that each explore a distinct genre, such as humour, horror, science fiction, and fantasy. Each episode has a unique plot and style of animation.
The saying “third times a charm” is accurate since Love, Death & Robots, Volume 3 is the greatest of the bunch.
All nine of the shorts—one more than in Volume 2—have tales with substance and consistency in animation, which can only be stated for a small number of earlier trips.

For All Mankind (Apple TV+, Season 3)
In a different 1969, the Soviet Union successfully places men on the Moon before the United States, shocking the whole world—and especially the United States—in the process. With that setback, NASA now faces a brand-new obstacle in the space race that they weren’t prepared for.
For All Mankind transitioned into the ’90s technological boom after two seasons of a protracted Cold War. For All Mankind examines the notion of what an idealised version of America might look like if the 1990s had been characterised by a techno-optimism similar to that of the film.

The Sandman (Netflix, Season 1)
In an effort to negotiate for perpetual life, a magician catches Dream’s younger brother Death instead. The magician kept him imprisoned in a glass container for many years out of concern for his safety. Dream, also known as Morpheus, flees and sets off in search of his stolen magical items.
This ten-part series excels when it diverges from its star (and frequently employs bad CGI) and concentrates on other characters and plot lines, especially those featuring David Thewlis.
You won’t want to wake up from this vivid, sinister fantasy. We had a great time becoming lost in the realm of The Sandman.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (Paramount+, Season 1)

Trekkies have been missing Pike, the Starship captain, and Strange New Worlds is a welcome return to the Star Trek they know and love. Strange New Worlds is a comforting piece of Trek with a fantastic cast, witty writing, and lots of threads to be resolved in upcoming episodes.

Outer Range (Amazon, Season 1)
In Outer Range, Josh Brolin plays rancher Royal Abbott, who becomes sucked into a bizarre mystery in his community of Wabang, Wyoming. The first season opens with Royal attempting to defend both his family and his estate while dealing with the abduction of his daughter-in-law (Kristen Connolly).
Not simply because Outer Range is intriguing, well-written, gorgeously photographed, and has amazing sound design. It’s fun because, unlike the characters, you get to come out the other side after experiencing the agony of insignificance and the horror of sudden ignorance.
Slow Horses (Apple TV+, Season 1)
Based on the first Slough House novel by Mick Herron, Slow Horses chronicles the exploits of a group of Security Service exiles as they work to solve a persistent domestic terrorism case. Gary Oldman plays their grotesquely sleazy, unsupportive commander Jackson Lamb.
A realm of light and shadow is expertly crafted by director James Hawes to juxtapose mystery with reality. “Slow Horses” adds a crucial chapter about the ne’er do wells for those of us (myself included) who enjoy cloak and dagger plays. I can’t wait to start season two. The first six episodes of “Slow Horses” are currently available for viewing on Apple TV+.

Our Flag Means Death (HBO Max, Season 1)
Rhys Darby plays Stede Bonnet, a wealthy Barbadian nobleman who decides to go in piracy despite having no talent for it after growing weary of his idle lifestyle and miserable marriage. He decides to position himself as the Gentleman Pirate after getting a ship and a crew.
Our Flag Means Death has an unexpected level of depth and emotion because to the bond between Bonnet and Blackbeard as well as the oddball pirates who are under their wing. The show never forgets that it is a comedy, but at the same time, the romance is never used as a punch joke.

Severance doesn’t seem like it should be one of the best shows of 2022, but everything about the sci-fi thriller feels like a high-wire act, like a series of plates spinning atop sticks and staying precisely balanced. This includes the tightly tuned performances, the evocatively low-key score, even the concept of the show.
The Righteous Gemstones (HBO Max, Season 2)

In the movie The Righteous Gemstones, the patriarch Eli Gemstone, a widower, is the head of a family of megachurch pastors and televangelists (John Goodman). Eli has a luxurious lifestyle supported by church contributions with his immature children Jesse (Danny McBride), Judy (Edi Patterson), and Kelvin (Adam DeVine).
Season 2 demonstrates how the Gemstones’ four generations have changed over the years as a result of their family’s various levels of love and compassion.
The Righteous Gemstones shows how this family develops as each member finds their own path to leadership. Or, at the very least, maturing as much as possible.

House of the Dragon (HBO Max, Season 1)
The show depicts the political developments leading up to and during the House Targaryen succession war, also known as the “Dance of the Dragons,” which led to the Targaryens losing all of their dragons before Daenerys Targaryen hatched three dragons at the conclusion of Game of Thrones’ first season.
The spinoff series to Game of Thrones is on an epic trajectory to be one of the top shows of 2022, despite the fact that we have only watched the first episode as of the time of writing. GoT director Miguel Sapochnik, who is renowned for his work on the series’ most intricate and bloody conflicts, is back, and he lends the action a harsh physicality.
We feel confident adding a new programme to our list if it can follow in the footsteps of its predecessor while adding new elements.

Abbott Elementary (Disney+, Season 1)

In spite of the challenges they face, a group of committed, passionate teachers and a somewhat tone-deaf principal are brought together in a Philadelphia public school where they are motivated to help their pupils succeed in life.
This programme is both hilarious and sincere; it is full of love, care, passion, and seriousness, and I much admire the fact that it doesn’t try to undermine itself. There are plenty of jokes along with discomfort and shame. We are constantly cheering for Janine because of the outstanding cast.

After Life (Netflix, Season 3)
The principal character Tony Johnson in the British dark comedy-drama series After Life is portrayed by actor Ricky Gervais, who also conceived, wrote, produced, and directed the show. It debuted on Netflix on March 8th, 2019. The second season debuted on April 24, 2020. The third and last season debuted on January 14, 2022.
The third season of After Life is an excellent way to wrap up a tale of loss and acceptance. It’s like witnessing an irreverent comedy admit that it was a coming-of-age drama all along as the anger gives way to a polished dignity.
Pachinko (Apple TV+, Season 1)
This epic narrative, which is based on the 2017 New York Times bestseller, spans four generations and follows the aspirations of a Korean immigrant family. Youn Yuh-jung, Lee Min-ho, Kim Min-ha, and Jin Ha are all featured in the series, which is directed by Kogonada and Justin Chon.
It is immensely touching and narratively audacious, as well as intellectually and aesthetically ambitious. Pachinko is so packed it makes most TV in comparison seem anaemic. A work of art worth remembering.
Yellowstone (Paramount+, Season 1)
Yellowstone centres on the Dutton family, headed by John Dutton, who owns the biggest continuous ranch in the country and is always under siege from those who live there as well as from an Indian reserve, a property developer, and the country’s first national park.
Yellowstone has every feature a drama series should have. An edge, decent action, excellent pacing, good acting, and just the right amount of romance.
