FreshBooks is accounting software for small businesses that is ideal for freelancers and independent contractors. Its strong phone service and customisable invoicing options set it apart. However, because of user and client constraints on certain of its plans, it is not suitable for fast-growing organisations.
The programme began as a solution for organising invoices and evolved into an accounting package. The software developed by the Toronto-based firm is currently utilised in over 160 countries.
After the 30 days trial, you can choose between Lite, Plus, Premium, or custom pricing.
Lite Subscription is designed for self-employed professionals and includes the following features:
Plus Subscription is designed for small businesses. It includes all Lite features, plus:
Premium Subscription is designed for growing businesses. It includes:
FreshBooks provides phone help from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Eastern time on weekdays (if in the UK you only get support from 1pm BST), as opposed to conventional business hours. This is useful for those who work on their books towards the end of the day or run a business that works on a later schedule, such as a restaurant. A customer service professional will usually answer the phone after three rings.
Instead of live chat assistance, FreshBooks allows you to generate online support tickets. Emails are typically responded to within 90 minutes.
One of FreshBooks‘ strong qualities is its set of invoicing tools. You may select from a variety of configurable styles, create recurring digital invoices, quickly incorporate discounts, and receive instant notifications when invoices are seen or paid online. The mobile app also has invoicing capabilities.
FreshBooks’ main disadvantages are its user and billable customer restrictions. The Lite and Plus programmes allow for a maximum of five and fifty clients, respectively. These constraints may not be significant for very small enterprises, but they can make scaling up more expensive.
Other accounting solutions provide greater flexibility. QuickBooks Online has a five-user restriction in its most popular Plus package and a 25-user limit in its Advanced plan. Wave, a free accounting software solution, does not have any user or customer constraints. Xero does not limit the amount of users or clients you may have, but it does limit the number of transactions.
