If I cancel my Audible subscription, will I lose the books I’ve purchased?

If you cancel your Audible membership, you will still be able to log back in and access your online library – any audiobooks you have purchased with either a credit or credit/ debit card will still be accessible.

If you downloaded any titles from the plus catalogue (and didn’t purchase them, or use a credit to buy them) you will not be able to access or listen to them once your billing cycle has commenced.

Can I listen to free books if I cancel my membership?

If you cancel your Audible account you will still be able to access any audiobook you’ve purchased with Audible credits or with real money. However, you will not have access to free titles, as they are only free as long as you have a membership.

If I cancel Audible do I lose my credits?

In short, yes. Once you have cancelled your Audible account and the billing cycle has ended you will no longer have access to any existing credits you had, so make sure to use them up before ending your subscription!

Can I pause my Audible membership instead of cancelling it?

You can pause or ‘freeze’ your membership with Audible as opposed to canceling it, and this enables you to continue using credits and membership benefits you have built up while not continuing with payments. You can pause your account for up to 90 days once every 12 months. At the end of the 90 day pause, your subscription will auto-renew.

How to freeze your Audible account:

To pause your membership all you have to do is:

  • make sure you are signed in to your account
  • select your name and profile picture at the top of the page
  • click on the drop down menu from the settings and select the account details page
  • choose the pause membership status
  • select ‘pause your membership’ again to confirm.
