Is there a Spotify free plan?
There is a free version of Spotify available, where you will be able to access the full library of more than 50 million songs the app offers, with a few key differences between the premium version of the app.
Let’s take a look at some of those.
Differences between Spotify Premium and Spotify Free version:
Unlimited replays and unlimited skips.
When using the free version of the streaming service, you have a six song per hour limit of songs you can replay or skip. If you choose to upgrade your account to the premium service, you can skip, loop or repeat songs as many times as you choose.
No more shuffle only mode – play albums in full.
When using Spotify free version on your smart phone, you will have to listen to almost all playlists in shuffle-only mode. It should also be noted that the free plan of Spotify on tablet or desktop app does not restrict you to this shuffle only mode, this only occurs on mobile apps.
With the premium plan, you will able to play entire albums on the mobile version of the app, in order, which you cannot currently do on the free model.
Listen offline:
With a Spotify Premium account you will be able to download up to 10,000 songs, and listen to them wherever you are, disconnected from the internet and with your data turned off. You will be able to download songs over a maximum of five devices.
Listening abroad:
The free model of Spotify currently allows users to stream music for up to 14 days when traveling abroad – once you upgrade to Spotify premium, you can listen overseas for a limitless timeframe.
Improved audio quality:
When listening to music on Spotify Free plan, your audio will be at either standard quality (96 kilobits per second), or high quality (160 kilobits per second). With Premium features, you have a third option of audio quality; ‘very high’ (320 kilobits per second). This will create clearer or more detailed audio, helping to improve your listening experience as the user.
